Separate Judgments

There will be separate judgments for believers and unbelievers. The judgment for believers is the judgment seat of Christ. The judgment for unbelievers is the great white throne judgment. There will be no condemnation for those at the judgment seat of Christ.

The Judgment Seat Of Christ

Romans 14:7: For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. 8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord*s. 9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living. 10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

Note the phrase whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: This judgment is for believers, those who are alive in Christ.

Romans 8:1: There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

The judgment seat of Christ is also referred to in 2 Corinthians and is judgement for rewards, not condemnation. Note the phrase that mortality might be swallowed up of life. That refers to believers. Note also that we have the earnest of the Spirit. God will never take back His earnest (down-payment.) Notice also the phrase We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. No unbeliever will be present with the Lord before he stands at the great white throne judgment.

2 Corinthians 5:4: For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. 5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit. 6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. 9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

The book of 2 Corinthians was written to the believers and saints at Corinth and Achaia.

2 Corinthians 1:1: Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia:

The word we appears many times in the passages about the judgment seat of Christ and does not appear at all in the great white throne passage. Those who have Christ have life. For more about the great white throne judgment see Separate Judgments 2.
